Re-building trust on a red project

Congratulations, you have inherited a red project, a project that is in serious trouble, which you are now in charge of turning around. Stakeholders are frustrated and have lost trust in the team’s ability to deliver. While there are many actions you need to take, those that focus on re-building trust in the short and long term will significantly increase the odds of success.
This session will explore trust, what compromises it and what strengthens it. Drawing from my personal experience turning around projects across the globe, which resulted in tens of millions of dollars in follow-on work for my employer and clients, we will discuss actions you can take to build/re-build trust with stakeholders and how these can be used to drive the project towards a successful conclusion.

Learning Objectives

  • The importance of building trust and how this relates to turning around red projects.
  • The most common mistakes project managers make that compromise stakeholder trust.
  • Using the golden rule to build trust.
  • Specific actions project managers can take to start rebuilding trust in the short term with an eye to developing long term trusting relationships with their stakeholders.

Unleash Your Project Meeting Potential : How to Maximize Collaboration, Outcomes, and Value

High-functioning meetings are a powerful enabler for project managers to build collaborative partnerships, and to drive successful projects results. Participants of this session will explore their untapped potential that could be accessed through thoughtful meeting planning and execution.

As project managers, we easily spend at least half of our time in meetings, or planning for the next one.  But not every meeting produces great results. However, as project leads, we need to take accountability for leading effective meetings, and appreciate the value that meetings can play in reaching our project goals and achieving success in our careers.

By exploring The 3 Step Meeting Framework™, the group will delve into several considerations for before, during and after each meeting. Participants of this session will leave with in-depth knowledge and practical strategies to plan, lead and follow up appropriately. Just like project management, meeting management has a methodology and best practices. Learn how to maximize your meetings to achieve the project outcomes you want, and to drive value for all your key stakeholders.

Learning Objectives

  • Defining your meeting purpose, clear objectives, and expected outcomes, and learning how to use these to measure your meeting success.
  • Selecting the right participants that will add the greatest value, establishing clear expectations, and increasing participant engagement.
  • Understanding the value of communication before, during, and after your meeting.
  • Evaluating your meetings and continuously applying new lessons learned.
  • Exploring what you are already doing well, and where you have opportunities to make improvements to your current state.
