December 2018 Print

From the President's desk

Season’s Greetings PMI SWOC members and volunteers,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your commitment and dedication to make 2018 a successful year.
I am amazed by the wide range of successful events offered and executed by our chapter throughout the year, including our Annual Symposium, Annual General Meeting (AGM), monthly chapter meetings, membership and volunteer engagement and professional development training.  Our chapter’s first Habitat for Humanity Build Day was an incredible experience.  We are looking forward to doing it again! Look for the announcement in our upcoming 2019 schedule.
2018 has been a year of incredible growth for your chapter, as we welcomed 173 new members. Our chapter is now 662 members strong, with a retention rate of 75% - that's 3% above our 2018 goal! Great job everyone! We are so grateful to all our volunteers and members for standing up our chapter.
Looking ahead, our chapter’s 2019 business goals are as follows:
  1. Enhance chapter financial stability - increase revenue by 10%
  2. Engage Next Generation PMs and Profs PMs -  5% growth rate & 80% retention rate, target 80% membership satisfaction
  3. Engage committed volunteers – target 80% volunteer satisfaction
Our chapter reached a milestone of 20 successful years in promoting project management and supporting individual project management professional career journey. The success story of PMI SWOC has been made not only by single person or generation but by all the passionate volunteers, members, chapter leaders and the support of PMI Global.  At PMI, we believe in volunteerism, since volunteers and effective volunteer partnerships with staff are the best way to accomplish the Institute’s goals and objectives.
Our chapter is growing stronger and better - together we can make a positive impact and make good things happen in our PM community.
On behalf of the board, thank you all for your continuous support. Wishing everyone a joyous holiday season!
Yours truly,
Emily Chan, PMP
President, PMI SWOC
